President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 21 May, the press service of the head of state reported.

The two parties discussed the progress in implementing agreements reached following the summit meetings, the schedule of upcoming bilateral events, the strengthening of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance, increasing trade volume, and other issues.

The leaders also discussed the preparation for Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Uzbekistan, shared the Kremlin’s press service. The Russian president also “shared his impressions about the talks with the Chinese leadership that have just taken place in Beijing.”

On 21 February, Mirziyoyev invited Putin to visit Uzbekistan. “As you and I agreed, one of the first visits will be to Uzbekistan. I told my entire team that this visit should be, as always, historic, rich in all directions. I am preparing quite seriously,” Uzbekistan’s leader said back then.
