A strong mudflow caused by heavy rains in Kyrgyzstan’s Osh region led to a collapse of an automobile bridge over the mountainous Oqbuyra river in Jalaquduq district of Andijan region on Sunday. Videos of the collapse appeared on social media.

The footages show there were no people or vehicles on the bridge at the time of the collapse. Drivers stopped their cars at a safe distance.

A pedestrian bridge over Oqbuyra river was also destroyed. There were no casualties in both incidents.

Meanwhile, the body of a 5−6-year-old girl was found in Shahrikhonsoy canal in the same region. According to the regional hokimiyat, the girl was presumably carried away by a mudflow in Osh region of Kyrgyzstan. She was identified from her photograph by family members.

Earlier, Uzhydromet, the hydrometeorology agency, warned of possible mudflows and floods in the mountainous areas of six regions of Uzbekistan to expected rains on 13−16 July.
