Uzbekistan has sent 200 tons of humanitarian aid to Osh region of Kyrgyzstan, which recently suffered from mudflows, press-service of Andijan region’s hokimiyat said.

The cargo was delivered on 16 July to Kara-Suu district via Dustlik border post in Andijan region’s Khojaobod district. The shipment consisted of 13 trucks carrying food products, clothing, household items and construction materials. Nine of these trucks were transferred to the city of Osh, 24.kg agency reported.

The delegation of Uzbekistan led by hokim of Andijan region Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov (pictured, right) visited Yangi mahalla (neighborhood) in Osh, where he conveyed words of support and condolences to the residents on behalf of president of Uzbekistan.

The mudflows that struck Osh and the surrounding region on 14 July caused significant damage, affecting nearly 800 buildings, including residential homes and social facilities, according to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of emergency situations.

The mudflows claimed lives of four members of one family — a mother and her three daughters. The children’s bodies were found on the territory of Uzbekistan.

Earlier in July, Uzbekistan sent 95 tons of humanitarian aid to residents of southern Kyrgyzstan, who were also affected by flooding.
