Sayar Green company was established in Uzbekistan jointly with the US-based Sayar to produce alternative heating from medical waste, according to a presidential resolution from 17 July.

The agreement was signed in April between the investor, the newly formed company and the government of Uzbekistan represented by the Ministry of investments, industry and trade. The project is scheduled to launch from 1 August.

At the initial phase, during 2024−2025, the company is required to attract $7 million in direct investments. These funds will be used to process 6,000 tons of medical waste annually from medical institutions in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara regions, and to install equipment with a capacity of 20 GWh per year.

During the second phase, from 2026 to 2030, the project aims to attract $108 million in direct investments. The waste processing capacity will be increased to 90,000 tons across all regions of Uzbekistan, with equipment capacity reaching 300 GWh per year.

The heating will be purchased at special tariffs by state medical institutions participating in the project. Other organizations will also be able to buy the heating.

According to the agreement, after the project completion, purchased equipment will be donated to partner organizations.
