Oybek Shakhavdinov, who has been serving as Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Hungary since March, has also been appointed the country’s ambassador to Croatia.

On 23 October, he presented copies of his credentials to head of the Protocol at the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Mirta Jelenc Župan in Zagreb, the Telegram channel of Uzbekistan’s embassy in Hungary said.

Oybek Shakhavdinov became the first even ambassador of Uzbekistan to Croatia, with residence in Budapest.

During the meeting, the prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Croatia in various fields, including economy, culture and education, were discussed.

Mirta Jelenc Župan wished Oybek Shakhavdinov success on his new post and expressed confidence that the appointment of the ambassador of Uzbekistan would start a new phase in bilateral relations.

Oybek Shakhavdinov is Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Hungary with residence in Budapest. Previously, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Hungary was the ambassador to Austria.

Prior to his current role, Shakhavdinov headed Department for Cooperation with European Countries and EU Institutions at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
