General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan said on Monday three more individuals suspected of involvement in an attempted murder in Qibray district of Tashkent region had been detained. On Sunday, the body said one person was detained.

None of the several statements by the prosecutor’s office since the incident early on 26 October said Komil Allamjonov, until recently head of the Information Policy Department of the President’s Administration, was in the car. Several sources confirmed to Gazeta.uz that he was in the car.

The initial statement said two unidentified individuals fired multiple shots at the car near the railway crossing (pictured) in close proximity to Tashkent. Neither the driver (identified as S. S.), nor Komil Allamjonov were injured.

The General Prosecutor’s Office said the criminal case had been opened under articles 25 and 97 of the Criminal Code (attempted intentional murder) and article 248 (illegal arms trafficking).

Komil Allamjonov previously served as deputy head of the President’s Administration, director of the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the president and the press secretary of the president.
