The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has announced its resignation following the election of the new Oliy Majlis (parliament). Prime minister Abdulla Aripov signed the resolution formalizing the decision on 19 November.

According to the decree of the president Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed on the same day, the current government will continue its duties until a new government is formed to ensure continuity and the uninterrupted operation of state functions, prime minister’s spokesperson Bekzod Khidoyatov said.

Under article 116 of the Constitution and article 7 of the Law on the Cabinet of Ministers, the government is required to step down before the newly elected Oliy Majlis. However, it continues its activities in line with the president’s decree until the formation of a new cabinet.
