President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 18 November issued a decree awarding the Dostlik (Friendship) order to two Russian artists: artistic director of Moscow Drama Theater and a renowned theater and film actor Sergey Bezrukov and ballet artist and director Andris Liepa.

The award recognizes their “significant contributions to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, strengthening of traditional ties of friendship and mutual understanding between our peoples and their exceptional, unique talents and fruitful creative work in cinema and theater”. It also highlights their “efforts in expanding cultural and artistic collaboration and preserving and enriching spiritual values”.

On the same day, president of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the Druzhba (Friendship) order to two singers of Uzbekistan — artistic director of the Yalla vocal ensemble Farrukh Zakirov and well-known singer Sevara Nazarkhan for their “fruitful work in fostering closer ties and mutual enrichment of cultures of Russia and Uzbekistan”.
