Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium Gayrat Fozilov has also been appointed ambassador to the Netherlands, Dunyo news agency reported.
Fozilov presented copies of his credentials on 20 November to the director of the Protocol and Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Hans Akerboom.
The sides discussed the development of political, economic and diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the Netherlands, both praising the political consultations held in Tashkent in April. They expressed a mutual desire to make these meetings regular.
In 2023, Gaiyrat Fozilov succeeded Dilyor Hakimov as ambassador to Belgium, a position Hakimov held since 2017, while also heading Uzbekistan’s missions in the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the EU and NATO, based in Brussels.
Earlier, on 14 November, Fozilov presented his credentials to president of the European Council Charles Michel.
