The Prosecutor General’s Office disclosed new details regarding the criminal case in Kibrai district of Tashkent region involving the attempted assassination of the former head of the Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Komil Allamjonov.

This is the first time the office named Komil Allamjonov as the target of the attempted attack.

The investigators have examined the crime scene, inspected vehicles used by the suspects and searched their residences, having obtained material evidence relevant to the case, the statement said.

As a result of investigation and search activities, seven individuals were identified as suspects in the crime. Five were detained and two were declared fugitives.

One of them, identified as K. S., was located in Kazakhstan, and he was attracted to the investigation.

Another suspect, Javlon Yunusov, who was on an international wanted list via Interpol, was detained in South Korea and extradited to Uzbekistan.

The investigation remains ongoing, the General Prosecutor’s Office noted in its statement.

As Gazeta.uz reported earlier, the incident took place early on 26 October. Two unidentified individuals fired multiple shots at the car near the railway crossing (pictured) in close proximity to Tashkent. Neither the driver (identified as S. S.), nor Komil Allamjonov were injured.
