Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Montenegro with residence in Budapest Oybek Shakhavdinov on 25 November presented his credentials to president of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, Dunyo news agency reported.

During the ceremony at the presidential residence, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral relations.

President Milatović emphasized Montenegro’s high regard for the potential of cooperation with Uzbekistan, particularly in trade, economic, investment and cultural spheres. He also highlighted the importance of fostering favorable conditions for tourism and humanitarian exchanges.

Uzbekistan and Montenegro established diplomatic relations on 19 December, 2006.

The 47-year-old Oybek Shakhavdinov is Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Hungary, based in Budapest itself, since March 2024. Previously, ambassador of Uzbekistan to Austria held the post for Hungary concurrently. In October, Shakhavdinov was also appointed Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Croatia and Slovenia.
