Competition Promotion and Сonsumer Protection Committee of Uzbekistan and its regional branches received numerous citizen complaints regarding the quality of taxi and delivery services, the agency’s press service said.

In Nurafshan, Tashkent region, drivers from Davr Trans Servis on the “Nurafshan bus station — Kuchlik qurgoni — SGM Arancha” route were found to have increased fares from 2,800 to 5,000−7,000 soums. The company was ordered to refund unjustified overcharges amounting to 5 million soums to passengers.

In Kagan, Bukhara region, Damas (microvan) drivers on routes No. 103 and 114 unjustifiably raised tariffs. Authorities discovered that several vehicles were operating without licenses, leading to administrative protocols against their owners.

Yandex Go (taxi aggregaor app) users in Tashkent reported issues such as being charged both in cash and via the app-linked card for taxi rides. Delivery services also faced complaints, with delays, incorrect addresses or undelivered orders. Violating drivers were blocked from the app, and Yandex Go refunded 1 million soums to customers.

In Jizzakh region, a taxi passenger on the “Jizzakh — Paxtakor” route was overcharged by 40,000 soums, which was later refunded.

In Karshi, Kashkadarya region, a Call Taxi driver demanded 32,000 soums instead of the standard 12,000 and treated the passenger rudely. The passenger was refunded 20,000 soums, and the driver was reminded to use the taximeter properly and maintain courteous behavior.

In Samarkand region, two citizens complained about rude behavior from drivers and issues with payments and bookings. Warnings were issued to Yandex Go drivers to adhere to service standards.

A resident of Fergana reported an overcharge of 9,500 soums via Yandex Go, which was not resolved despite multiple complaints. The amount was subsequently refunded.

The committee reminded service providers that under article 21 of the Consumer rights protection law, providers cannot force consumers to purchase additional services or charge for services not rendered.

Furthermore, per the passenger and luggage transportation rules approved by the Cabinet of Ministers, payment for rides must be based on taximeter readings at the end of the trip.

The committee emphasized that entrepreneurs who commit violations for the first time and voluntarily resolve them within a specified timeframe are exempt from penalties, except in cases involving harm to life and health.
