Native of Uzbekistan Khudoyar Nuriddinov has been declared wanted for his involvement in terrorist activities and propaganda related to the conflict in Syria, press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Nuriddinov, operating under the alias Abu Walid, was born in 1994 in Rishtan district of Fergana region. In 2016, he traveled to Russia for work, where he came under the influence of terrorist ideology and later relocated to Idlib, Syria, the ministry noted.

“Due to the propaganda he conducted from there, several citizens of Uzbekistan joined the fighting and lost their lives,” the statement said.

The State Security Service launched a criminal case against the 30-year-old man under four articles of the Criminal Code:

  • article 155−2: Training, traveling or movement for the purpose of terrorist activities;
  • article 159: Attempts against the constitutional order of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • article 223: Illegal exit from or entry into the Republic of Uzbekistan;
  • article 244−2: Creation, leadership or participation in religious extremist, separatist, fundamentalist or other banned organizations.

According to the authorities, Nuriddinov “continues to call for jihad through the internet”. The pages he manages are banned in Uzbekistan. The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned that storing, sharing or using videos featuring him would result in criminal liability.
