On Monday, 16 December, the Tashkent Metro served 1 million passengers for the first time, the metro’s press service said.
The milestone passenger was Kozim Sokhibov, a resident of the capital. The award — a souvenir and a transport card granting free use of Tashkent’s public transportation for a year — was presented to him by the head of Chinoz station Abdurakhmon Abdugaffarov.
Kozim Sokhibov, who lives near Chinoz station, said the award came as a complete surprise. He shared that he uses the metro daily to commute to work near Tuzel station.
On Sunday, heavy snowfall blanketed the capital. City authorities urged drivers and car users to opt for public transportation.
