Humanitarian aid consisting of food and medicine was sent to Afghanistan at the direction of the president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, press service of Surkhandarya regional administration said.
Additionally, residents of Afghanistan’s Balkh province will have access to free medical examinations by doctors from Uzbekistan during 25−30 December. These services will be provided via a “health train” comprised of nine medical and sanitation cars.
The humanitarian aid was delivered in response to a request from the Afghan side during a meeting between the ' governments, the statement said.
The shipment was facilitated by the governor of Surkhandarya region Ulugbek Kosimov, along with representatives from Ministries of Transport and Foreign Affairs and the Uzbekistan Railways railway.
