The official exchange rate of the US dollar set by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan strengthened by 581.71 soums during 2024, rising from 12,338.77 to 12,920.48 soums on the last trading day on the currency exchange, 27 December.
The national currency depreciated by 4.71% over the year, which was lower than in 2023 (9.92%), but higher than in 2022 (3.58%).
In December, the dollar strengthened by 55.43 soums (+0.43%) against the soum, in November by nearly 91 soums (+0.71%) and in October by 59 soums (+0.46%).
The average exchange rate of the dollar during the year was 12,654 soums, slightly above the forecasted 12,640 soums.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance expects the average exchange rate of the US dollar to the soum to be 13,250 soums in 2025 (a 4.8% increase from the projected 2024 level), 13,725 soums in 2026 and 14,150 soums in 2027.
