President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated US president Donald Trump on his official inauguration, president’s press secretary Sherzod Asadov announced.
In his message, Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that during Trump’s new presidential term, the United States' international influence, economic strength and global role would continue to grow.
Uzbekistan highly values US policies aimed at supporting the Uzbekistan’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, the statement emphasized.
“I would like to note that during your first presidential term, a new era of strategic partnership began between Uzbekistan and the United States, elevating our dialogue to a higher level. We are committed to further developing long-term cooperation both bilaterally and within multilateral platforms,” Mirziyoyev stated.
He also extended an invitation for Trump to come to Uzbekistan on a visit.
Mirziyoyev eaelier congratulated Trump in November, one day after the election in the US.
In May 2018, Mirziyoyev visited the United States and met with Trump. Their joint statement following the meeting was titled “The beginning of a new era of strategic partnership between the United States and Uzbekistan”.
As reported earlier, the draft state program of Uzbekistan for 2025 includes plans to foster close ties with the new US administration and arrange a high-level visit. The document is expected to be signed by president soon.
