As of 30 January, the number of citizens of Uzbekistan who died after consuming counterfeit alcohol in Turkey reached 23, including 2 women. the consulate general of Uzbekistan in Istanbul announced.
Earlier, it was reported that by the end of 17 January, information was available on 17 victims.
The diplomatic mission, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan, provided consular, legal and organizational assistance in the repatriation of all the deceased, the statement said.
Some citizens have been were discharged from hospitals after treatment, while others continue to receive medical care.
The embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara and the consulate general in Istanbul continue to monitor the situation, the diplomatic mission added.
