President pardons 426 people, including 11 foreigners
Ahead of Ramadan Hayit (Eid al-Fitr), the president of Uzbekistan granted clemency to 426 individuals. Among them, 135 are fully released from their main sentences, while 200 are released on parole. 11 foreigners and three minors are among the pardoned.
Gold price surge boosts Uzbekistan’s foreign exchange reserves, yet gold volume declines

President initiated construction of first facilities in New Tashkent, including campuses of New Uzbekistan University and Tashkent State University, National Library and National Theater. “Initiation of the new city’s construction with centers of knowledge and spirituality is deliberate,” he noted.
President of Kazakhstan is expected to visit Uzbekistan
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is set to visit Uzbekistan on April 5, upon the invitation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The discussions are scheduled to be held in Khiva.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan strongly denounced the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. “It is absolutely unacceptable to attack diplomatic and other missions of foreign countries and it violates principles of international diplomatic law,” the ministry stated.
2023 anti-corruption rankings: Uzbekistan state bodies assessed
Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan released a new rating for state bodies' anti-corruption efforts. The Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology and Central Bank received top scores, while 40 bodies were rated “satisfactory” and 15 as “unsatisfactory”.

President Mirziyoyev extended condolences to President Putin over the terrorist attack in the Moscow area. MFA of Uzbekistan “calls for unanimous rejection of violence against innocent citizens”. Uzbekistan Embassy in Moscow has not received any reports on injuries of Uzbekistan citizens yet.

President Mirziyoyev congratulated Russian President Putin on his “convincing victory” in the presidential election. The message notes the high turnout and voting results “once again clearly showed the unwavering trust and strong support of the population” for Putin’s political course and program.
