Housing sales in Uzbekistan were down by 5.7% in the first six months of 2024. The growth of prices of existing homes slowed down, while rent prices in Tashkent continued dropping.
The child poverty rate in Uzbekistan has decreased by 7.8 percentage points from 21.5% in 2021 to 13.7% in 2023. The lowest child poverty rates are in Navoi region and Tashkent city, while relatively high child poverty rates are found in Syrdarya and Jizzakh regions.
WHO reports the average body mass index in Uzbekistan of 26.5 kg per square meter — the highest in Central Asia. By 2060, the economic loss from obesity is expected to increase to $21.6 billion, equivalent to 4.7% of GDP.
