Uzbekistan Airways flight from Tel Aviv to Tashkent via Samarkand was delayed due to a missile attack to Israel from Iran. The plane arrived safely in Uzbekistan with a delay of approximately two hours.
Foreign minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov received the new ambassador of Israel Gideon Lustig. He wished the diplomat productive tenure in the country. The minister also called for the “earliest stabilization of the situation in the Middle East”.
Uzbekistan calls on the parties involved in the Middle East conflict for restraint and political settlement. “Escalating tensions in the region could lead to more serious consequences and a broad military confrontation,” the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan strongly denounced the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. “It is absolutely unacceptable to attack diplomatic and other missions of foreign countries and it violates principles of international diplomatic law,” the ministry stated.
The UN General Assembly has passed a resolution calling on Israel to withdraw from the Syrian Golan Heights. 91 countries, including Uzbekistan, voted in favor.
At the OTS summit, the President of Uzbekistan shared his views on the conflict between Israel and Palestine. “We call on the parties to immediately halt hostilities, cease fire and proceed with a truce,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev. He took the side of the ‘two-state solution'.
