Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and UAE-based Masdar signed a contract at the COP29 conference in Baku to build a 1,000 MW wind power plant in Uchquduq district of Navoi region. The plant is expected to generate 3.5 billion kWh of electricity annually.
Masdar, an Emirati company, was declared the preliminary winner of the bid for the construction and operation of a 300 MW solar photovoltaic plant in Guzar district of Kashkadarya region.
The European Investment Bank approved $83.6 million loan for Uzbekistan’s solar energy program, implemented by UAE’s Masdar. Partnering with ADB, AIIB, and EBRD, EIB’s contribution forms part of a $396.4 million package to construct and operate three PV plants with a total capacity of nearly 900 MW.
